Touch & Mouse: Tap or click one of your pieces to inspect its legal moves (dots mark open squares; rings mark captures). Tap any highlighted destination square to move. Pawns reaching the back rank open a 4-piece promotion picker (Queen, Rook, Bishop, or Knight).
Keyboard: Focus any square on the board and use the Arrow keys to navigate ranks and files, Enter or Space to select a piece or confirm a destination, and Escape to clear your selection. Outside text inputs, press F to flip the board or U to undo.
Engine Levels: Computer mode runs the single-threaded Stockfish 18.0.8 Lite WebAssembly engine locally in a Web Worker. Levels scale both UCI Skill Level (0 to 20) and per-move search time (100ms at Beginner up to 10s at Extreme, which uses full Skill 20 for this lite engine).
